WWF
WWF is a non profit international conservation organisation that cares for the whole planet. WWF stands for World Wide Fund for Nature and the Panda on their logo is called Chi Chi.
I am a youth ambassador for WWF and I love being part of WWF. I share WWF’s values and passion in looking after our environment. As an ambassador I try to spread awareness of WWF’s goals and be actively involved in suitable projects.
The founder of WWF was Sir Peter Scott and this is his quote “We shan’t save all we should like to, but we shall save a great deal more than if we had never tried”’
I like his quote because it is a simple message that we should try to do something whether it is big or small.
I have made some special friends at WWF and thank them for allowing me to part of a special organisation. I enjoy learning from them and look to them for help and advice. To Greg, Andy, Kathy, Song, Sarah, Helen and Kath thankyou for always helping me and listening to me.
A special thankyou to Greg who believes in my film and documentaries and through his and WWF's support is helping me to achieve my goal in educating children about climate change and the enviornment.
I have been to WWF offices in Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Oslo in Norway and Vienna in Austria. It amazes me how much work they do around the world that has a positive affect on the environment.
Thankyou to the special people I met in these WWF offices, Hana (Borneo), Paul, Gitsch, Christoph and Kathrin (Austria), Rasmus and Eivind (Norway). I am really proud of the work you do!
WWF has a great website so if you are looking for information and facts about the environment or want to buy some cool eco gifts or adopt an animal for friends and family check it out. www.wwf.org, www.panda.org, www.connect2earth.org and www.futuremakers.org.au.
One WWF initiative you may know of is Earth Hour. I love Earth Hour because of its simplicity. As long as you can reach a light switch you can participate in Earth Hour. There have been three Earth Hours and each year it has grown a lot. If you go to the Earth Hour website – www.earthhour.org you can get the statistics about how many people and countries participated. Earth hour unites the world together in one voice in the fight against climate change.
I campaigned last year for Earth Hour 2009 in Oslo and in Vienna and I was really happy to see both Norway and Austria participate.
I first walked into the WWF office in Sydney when I was 10 years old. Over the last four years I have built up a caring relationship and friendship with WWF and I hope to continue this relationship for a very long time.
